The 421-20-34511 cross-axis universal joint shaft assembly (commonly called the transmission shaft cross-axis assembly) for Komatsu D65/D85 bulldozers enables variable-angle power transmission between the gearbox and transfer case/final drive. Designed for heavy-duty impact and dusty vibration environments, it compensates for shaft alignment deviations and displacement, serving as a critical component in the drive system to ensure efficient and stable power delivery.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Inspect the cross shaft and bearings for damage and the oil seal for deformation. Apply grease before installation.

Use retaining rings to secure the bearings and prevent axial movement; tighten bolts to the specified torque to prevent loosening.

Inspect the dust cover and seals every 800 hours. Replace the assembly immediately if any damage is found.

Avoid heavy-load starts and frequent emergency stops to reduce universal joint impact and extend its service life.
